August 27, 2026,GURUN, KEDAH – Gurun, Kedah — Sapura Industrial Berhad (SIB), in strategic collaboration with Zhejiang Zhongze Precision Technology Co. Ltd. (ZZ Tech), has officially inaugurated the SIB ZZT manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah.
Officiated by Kedah Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor, the inauguration marks a significant milestone in SIB’s expansion beyond automotive component manufacturing into precision energy components, strengthening Malaysia’s energy manufacturing ecosystem while supporting growing regional and global demand for energy storage solutions.

The first phase of a multi-phase expansion project, the facility serves as an export-oriented manufacturing hub producing precision battery cans and lids for energy storage applications. It caters to customers across international markets and features advanced smart manufacturing technologies, including automation and end-to-end traceability, to ensure high standards of quality, precision and operational efficiency.
The facility has also been developed with sufficient land to accommodate future expansion, allowing SIB ZZT to scale its manufacturing capacity in line with business growth and evolving market demand.
The inauguration of the SIB ZZT manufacturing plant reflects SIB’s long-term strategy to diversify its business and strengthen its presence in high-growth industries. By combining SIB’s extensive manufacturing expertise with ZZ Tech’s advanced precision technology, the collaboration enhances Malaysia’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, supports localisation efforts and contributes to the National Energy Transition. It also strengthens Malaysia’s position as a competitive manufacturing base within the regional and global battery and energy storage supply chain.
The project is expected to generate broader economic benefits through the creation of over 200 employment opportunities, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce in advanced manufacturing. The export-oriented facility is also expected to create opportunities for local suppliers and supporting industries, while promoting technology transfer, capability development and long-term industrial growth within Malaysia’s manufacturing ecosystem.
