June 07,2026, Malaysia-Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has reached a major milestone with the first export shipment of its locally assembled Hyundai STARIA to Thailand, marking the beginning of Malaysia’s role as a regional export hub for the Korean automaker.
The first batch of the 10-seater STARIA departed Malaysia on 3 June 2026 , ahead of its official market introduction in Thailand on 12 June. The export programme underscores Hyundai’s confidence in Malaysia’s manufacturing capabilities and highlights the country’s growing importance within the brand’s regional production network.
“The export of the Hyundai STARIA to Thailand marks the beginning of Malaysia being an export hub for Hyundai. This is a milestone we are proud of, as it reflects our commitment to delivering vehicles of global quality while continuing to invest in Malaysia’s growth and development,” said Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen– MD of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.
The STARIA’s international debut serves as a strong endorsement of the quality, competitiveness and export readiness of vehicles produced in Malaysia.
Hyundai has strengthened regional footprint, while creating greater value for Malaysia’s automotive supply chain, workforce and manufacturing sector.
