May 12,2026,Kuala Lumpur,— Castrol Malaysia in collaboration with MotoWazi and supported by the Ministry of Education Malaysia and the Road Transport Department Malaysia, is strengthening its commitment to road safety through the nationwide expansion of its Castrol Back To School campaign.

Fronted by Malaysian motorsports personality Wazi Abdul Hamid, the programme delivers hands-on riding experience, road safety education and essential motorcycle maintenance knowledge directly to students, helping equip young riders with critical skills before they begin riding independently.

With motorcycles remaining a daily necessity for many students across the country, the need for early education has become increasingly important. This is especially significant as 78.1% of Malaysian households own a motorcycle, highlighting how deeply two-wheelers are embedded in everyday mobility across the nation.

In response, Castrol Malaysia is expanding the initiative to 50 additional secondary schools this year, focusing on responsible riding awareness, practical safety education and basic motorcycle care for the next generation of riders.

The programme aims to engage approximately 100,000 students this year, by encouraging students to adopt safe riding habits early while also improving their understanding of motorcycle maintenance and road responsibility.

“This programme is centred on people, responsibility and looking out for one another on the road,” said Joshua Tan,-Head of Marketing of Castrol Malaysia. “Many of these students are new riders, and we hope that the habits they develop now will stay with them. By helping them understand the importance of responsible riding, proper motorcycle maintenance and consideration for others, we believe this this initiative can create a lasting, positive impact on the community.”

During each session, students are exposed to real-world riding scenarios designed to build confidence and awareness on the road. The programme highlights hazard recognition, defensive riding techniques and the importance of wearing proper protective gear, reinforcing essential habits for safer everyday riding.

Beyond riding skills, students are also introduced to basic motorcycle maintenance, including checking engine oil levels, tyre condition and overall motorcycle safety. The initiative aims to instil the understanding that safe riding is shaped not only by rider behaviour, but also by ensuring the motorcycle is properly maintained and roadworthy.

As part of the initiative, Castrol Malaysia is also introducing its Castrol POWER1 motorcycle engine oil to help build early awareness of proper motorcycle maintenance and engine care among students.

At each participating school, students are given first-hand exposure to motorcycle engine oil products, proper handling practices and the importance of regular maintenance. The sessions also emphasise the role of using the correct engine oil in ensuring motorcycles remain safe, reliable and efficient for daily use.

The Castrol Back To School programme represents the continuation of Castrol’s long- running school outreach initiative. Castrol first introduced the Castrol Back To School programme from 2007 to 2011, followed by second phase which has been ongoing from 2023 through 2026. Across both phases, the initiative has reached nearly 300 secondaryschools nationwide, out of approximately 2,300 Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan schools in Malaysia.
