Hyundai Positions China as Innovation Hub with IONIQ V Debut

April 25, 2026BEIJING/SEOUL, Hyundai Motor Company has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to China at Auto China 2026 (Beijing Auto Show), unveiling the all-new IONIQ V and officially launching the IONIQ all-electric brand in the market as part of a broader product and innovation offensive.

Positioned as the first dedicated IONIQ production model developed specifically for China, the IONIQ V signals Hyundai’s renewed push in the world’s largest and fastest-evolving EV market, where electrification, software and smart mobility are reshaping the competitive landscape.

The move is anchored in Hyundai’s “In China, For China, To Global” strategy, under which China will serve not only as a key sales market but also as a strategic hub for innovation, advanced development and future global competitiveness.

Hyundai said the IONIQ V has been tailored to meet the needs and expectations of Chinese consumers, marking the first step in an ambitious new product offensive that will see 20 new models launched in China over the next five years, including battery electric vehicles.

The roadmap underscores Hyundai’s intent to deepen its presence in China while leveraging the market’s pace of innovation to strengthen its global EV competitiveness.
