The Audi Q3 1.4 TFSI has long been one of the brand’s most approachable premium SUVs, offering a balance of comfort, refinement and everyday usability. Positioned below the larger Q5, the Q3 appeals to urban drivers who want SUV practicality without sacrificing driving enjoyment.
Powering the Q3 1.4 TFSI is a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine, producing around 150 HP and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. On paper, the figures may seem modest for an SUV, but in real-world driving, the engine delivers smooth and responsive performance. Throttle response is clean, and the gearbox shifts unobtrusively, making the Q3 easy to live with in daily traffic.
On the move, the Q3 feels surprisingly agile. Steering response is direct, and the compact footprint makes it easy to manoeuvre through city streets and tight parking spaces. Through corners, the Q3 remains composed, with good body control and minimal roll for a vehicle of its height. This gives it a sporty character that sets it apart from many comfort-biased compact SUVs in the segment.

Earlier pre-2023 models lack ambient lighting, which would significantly enhance the cabin atmosphere, especially during night driving. In addition, while the 1.4 TFSI engine performs adequately, a more powerful 1.8-litre engine option would better complement the Q3’s sporty chassis and provide stronger acceleration for drivers who enjoy a more enthusiastic driving style.
In terms of safety, the Audi Q3 comes equipped with essential systems such as multiple airbags, electronic stability control and braking assist, depending on variant and year. While it may not feature the latest driver-assistance technologies found in newer models, it remains competitively equipped for its class.
Overall, the Audi Q3 1.4 TFSI delivers a convincing premium compact SUV experience. It offers a sporty and agile drive, respectable comfort levels and solid build quality. With added interior ambience and a more powerful engine option, it would be even more compelling. As it stands, the Q3 remains a sensible choice for buyers seeking a premium SUV that is easy to drive, refined and well suited to everyday use.
