The New Volvo EC40 with Single Motor Variant Now Open for Booking at RM248,888

September 30, 2025,KUALA LUMPUR – The New Volvo EC40 – is now available with a single motor for the 2026 model year, bringing its recommended retail price (RRP) to RM248,8881 only – RM40,000 less than to the RRP of the current twin-motor EC40.

The single-motor variant of the EC40 comes in the top-specification Ultra trim and features Volvo’s second-generation, in-house developed permanent magnet rear electric motor with a maximum output of 175 kW (238 hp), propelling the EC40 from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

The single-motor EC40 comes with a 70kWh high-voltage battery that allows up to 488 km2 in range under the WLTP cycle and can be charged from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes3 with fast DC charging.

To reward customers of the new single-motor EC40, Volvo Car Malaysia will be offering free 1st year car insurance worth RM5,600 and a wallbox charger voucher worth RM5,000 for a limited time. 

A new Sand Dune exterior colour features a warm metallic tone with glass flakes that sparkle in the sun, inspired by the dunes of Sweden’s west coast. First introduced on the 2025 model year EX90, Sand Dune will be offered as an option on the EC40 alongside Volvo’s classic Aurora Silver, Onyx Black and Crystal White colourways.

Inside, the new model year EC40 offers a leather-free interior with Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech for a premium yet sustainable cabin. The interior décor design has also been updated with Cutting Edge accents on the dashboard and door panels for a sharper look.

The single-motor EC40 will come with Volvo’s next-generation user interface that debuted in the EX30, featuring easier, more intuitive controls with less taps to access the most common functions in the car. The new interface will upgrade the viewing experience on the 9-inch Google built-in centre display and 12.3-inch driver’s display.

Since its launch, the EC40 has stood out among Volvo’s compact SUVs with a ride height that inspires confidence for road visibility, large wheels and sculpted arches for a commanding road presence, and a sleek, sloping roofline with distinctive swooping taillights that give it a modern, sporty look.

As with all Volvo cars, the EC40 comes with the full Safe Space Technology suite featured in its flagship models with the latest collision-avoidance technology, advanced driver assistance systems, and a reinforced structure that prioritises safety for occupants in the car and road users around it.
