November 15,2024,Malaysia- “KICKS is not a hybrid, its a e-Power,” explained Christopher Tan- Executive VP ,Tan Chong Motors. “There is no gears ,it’s a 100% electric motor drive system powered by a gasoline engine, and Kicks 2nd generation e-POWER utilises the same core technology of BEV” added Christopher Tan. ” The engine charged the battery while the motor drives the car.”
The Global production of e-POWER vehicles has surpassed 1.5 million units.
KICKS in 2 variants VL & VLT , is expected to be officially launched in December. The media were invited to test-drive the Nissan KICKS e-POWER ,from Petaling Jaya to Melaka, driving through the rural winding road. Driving the Nissan KICKS is like driving an EV with the One pedal control and the engine is so silent. The e-Pedal system with 3 modes- Normal, Sports and Eco certainly suits my style of driving. I must say , I was very impressed with the smooth acceleration and handling around the curves.
The 2nd generation e-POWER integrated the Inverter and Motor, thus increases the Motor torque by 10% and the acceleration performance improved. The newly developed e-Pedal Step system gives a smoother speed control, by merely lifting the foot from the accelerator. This reduces the brake pedal usage by 70%.
