July10, 2023 ,Bangkok– Clyde Cheng is the newly appointed President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN. (GWM). With Clyde Cheng at the helm, GWM has experienced remarkable growth, particularly in the thriving Russian market, establishing it as one of the company’s most prosperous global operations.
This appointment marks an exciting new era for GWM in the ASEAN region, as his strategic vision and unparalleled expertise are set to propel the company towards even greater achievements in the future, lead the company to continue enhance GWM new energy’s vision and its global footprint in ASEAN region.

This appointment comes at an exciting time as we reinforce our xEV position and expand our presence in the ASEAN region through our ambitious 6+3 ASEAN plan. Our goal is to further solidify our footprint in two additional countries, namely Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia, alongside our existing markets which are Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei, and the Philippines. Clyde Cheng joined GWM in 2002. He brings a wealth of experience in the automotive industry to his new position. Throughout his tenure, he has held various executive roles. In 2019, Clyde Cheng took on the role of Vice GM and VP at Haval Russian company, where he spearheaded marketing and sales efforts, achieving remarkable success in the Russian market and establishing it as one of GWM’s most successful overseas markets.
In February 2023, Clyde Cheng returned to the headquarters and assumed the position of Assistant to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), playing a vital role in advancing the group’s marketing direction from a regional level, networks, user operations, and insurance-related management.
