September 23, 2020, Kuala Lumpur – TRAPO Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a car mat manufacturer and supplier, has increased its hubs to five outlets and will expand its Singapore and Indonesia businesses.
“We don’t have an exact number on how many outlets we want to open, but we will be focusing on Singapore and Indonesia after Malaysia in terms of business,” said its co-founder Zare Lee during an interview with Auto News Asia.
TRAPO’s first hub was opened in the third quarter of 2018, located in Taman Melaka Raya, Melaka. Today, the car mat manufacturer and supplier has added four hubs in Kuala Lumpur, making it a total of five hubs. The four hubs are located in Cheras, Waterfront – Desa Parkcity and two in Mid Valley.
Customers can have the option to arrange an appointment with their desired TRAPO hub, to have their car vacuum and the newly ordered TRAPO car mat installed by TRAPO’s team.
Lee advised customers to make their purchases online, instead of directly heading to a TRAPO hub to purchase their car mats, as the outlets only keep some stocks of selected popular car models.
“All TRAPO car mats are customised and customers are able to select their desired colours for lining and base for their car model. Therefore, the car mats are made after an order has been placed,” Lee said.
TRAPO produces good quality recyclable car mats that are anti-slip, anti-bacteria, odourless, waterproof, traps mud and dirt easily, with warranty on manufacturing defects.
Due to the fact that all TRAPO mats are custom made and designed to fit specific models, coupled with the anti-slip features, it is safer than most car mats as drivers would not experience the car mats getting stuck underneath the brake pedal or accelerator, which may result in an accident.
“Safety has always been our priority from the day we started TRAPO,” expressed Lee.
The company also regularly improves their products and increases its product ranges to meet its customers expectations.
Two years ago, TRAPO only had two products in its line-up, which are the TRAPO Classic and TRAPO DIY. Now TRAPO offers in total four car mats variants, as well as car accessories, and other car care products.
The TRAPO car mats are available in TRAPO Classic Mark ii, TRAPO Hex, TRAPO Eco and TRAPO Back. The Classic Mark ii is an enhanced version of the original Classic, that now comes with improved velcros and durability. It is also the brand’s best selling range.
As for the TRAPO Hex, it is the ultimate anti-slip car mats best suited for premium car owners. It comes with the TRAPO Fix technology, that assists the TRAPO Hex to be ‘glued’ to the floorboards, without the need of velcros. Paired with the precision laser-cut metal plate, it gives an elegant touch to the car mats.
Meanwhile, the TRAPO Eco, is the company’s most affordable car mats, made from recycled materials. It still maintains its functionality and quality, without the anti-bacteria function, which is made available on both its Classic Mark ii and Hex variants. It also comes default in black base and black lining, with no other colour options.
Lastly, the TRAPO Back, is the mat to protect the boot of the car. One will not need to worry about transporting wet or dirty goods, if they got the TRAPO Back installed, because it is so easy to clean the mat.
There is a one year warranty on manufacturing defects on all TRAPO car mats, except for the Hex, where the company offers a five year warranty for its range topping product.
Prices for the TRAPO Classic Mark ii, Hex, Eco and Back, starts from RM 250, RM 400, RM 200 and RM 199.90, respectively.
TRAPO also worked with different vendors from Malaysia, Indonesia and China to provide a variety of car care, and car accessories. Items such as charging cables, air purifier, vacuum cleaner, antibacterial spray and many more.

Fun Facts Of TRAPO Malaysia
TRAPO Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s parent company, Sun Ta Toys Sdn Bhd, is a Melaka based premium EVA toys foam manufacturer and supplier with over 17 years of experience. Over the years, toy foam wastage has been an issue for Sun Ta Toys to tackle, as it costs a lot to discard it.
In 2015, Sun Ta Toys’ research and development team came out with an innovative way to reuse the materials to transform it into a functional product. That is when the Lee brothers (Tzong Lee (R) and Zare Lee) saw an opportunity and founded TRAPO.
Currently, TRAPO captured 10 to 12 percent of the total market share for car mats in Malaysia, making them the country’s number 1 car mat selling company.
