August 27, 2020, Kuala Lumpur – Next Bike Sdn Bhd, the official distributor for Ducati motorcycles in Malaysia, has launched the ‘Ducati Trio’ – the Ducati Panigale V4, the Ducati Panigale V2 and the Scrambler Icon Dark.
“The Ducati Panigale V4, Ducati Panigale V2 and Scrambler Icon Dark, although extremely different in their personalities, share the common iconic traits present in every Ducati and Scrambler range of motorcycles. The Ducati products launched today have been designed using Ducati’s extensive racing know-how and allow our customers to improve their track riding techniques in a safe and controllable manner.
“On the other side, the Scrambler model allows our customers to use it as a blank canvas to customise and define their interpretation of the Land of Joy. With the launch of these products, we aim to provide an opportunity for riders in Malaysia to embark on an exciting riding journey, especially during this period where local travel is encouraged, with strict adherence to health and safety SOPs to boost the recovery of our local tourism,” said Naza Corporation Holdings group chief executive officer for the Automotive Group Datuk Nik Hamdam Nik Hassan in a statement.
The Panigale range is the world’s best selling sports bike for the last two consecutive years with more than 8,000 units sold worldwide, dominating 25 percent of its class’ global market share. The Panigale V4 platform is now more user friendly, less fatiguing, and faster than its predecessor.
Ducati and Ducati Corse engineers had worked on the feedback and data numbers from customers all over the world and during the Superbike World Championship events. It led to enhancement in the aerodynamic, chassis, electronic control and the Ride by Wire mapping changes, which resulted in increased stability and turn-in speed.
The Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S models are now equipped with features adopted from the V4 R, such as the aero pack, which includes the aerofoils, screen nose fairing, and lager lateral fairings – side vents for radiator through-air).
Some of the features include the Ducati Traction COntrol EVO 2, Ducati Quick Shift up/down EVO 2, Ride by Wire system mappings,an Öhlins NIX-30 fork, an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock absorber, an Öhlins event-based steering damper, Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system amongst others.
The Panigale V4 and Panigale V4S are running on a 1,103 cm 3Desmosedici Stradale (banked 42° back from the horizontal), a MotoGP-derived 90° V4 with Desmodromic timing, featuring a counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order.
Moving to the twin-cylinder Panigale, it features a totally new design, with sophisticated electronics based on a 6-axis inertial platform, making it more enjoyable and user-friendly.
Some of the highlights of the Panigale V2 are the monocoque frame, Superquadro twin-cylinder engine, single-sided swingarm, new exhaust system with compact under-engine silencer and single-side endpipe, anti-lock braking system (ABS) Bosch Cornering EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control EVO, Ducati Quick Shift Up/down EVO, Engine Brake Control EVO, single Brembo calliper and many more.
As for the Scrambler Icon Dark, some of the key features include an LED daytime running lights, renewed suspension set-up, hydraulic clutch control with adjustable lever and ergonomic switch gear, Ducati Multimedia System, dual-channel Bosch cornering ABS, machine-finished aluminium belt covers, interchangeable aluminium side panels, etc.
Powering the Scrambler Icon Dark is the air-cooled 803cc Desmodromic L-Twin engine with 73 hp at 8,250 rpm.
Pricing for the Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V2 starts from RM 132,900, RM 172,000 and RM 109,900 respectively. Meanwhile, the Scrambler Icon Dark is priced at RM 49,900.
