Three Exciting Models From Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia

August 12, 2020, Kuala Lumpur – Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia, the official distributor for Volkswagen vehicles in Malaysia, has introduced not one, not two, but three locally assembled models to the Malaysian public.

The three models are the Arteon R-Line, the Passat R-Line and the all-new Tiguan Allspace line-up, which consists of the Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4TSI and the Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI.

Volkswagen’s R-Line variants took inspiration from the Volkswagen performance R range. The R-Line range is a sporty styling package that is fitted onto the vehicles to give it an extra edge in creating an overall sportier look while maintaining its value.

“My favourite is the Arteon R-Line.” said its managing director Erik Winter at the event which was held at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.

The Volkswagen Arteon made its global debut in 2017. Its name is a reflection of its appearance – “Art’ describes the fastback’s harmonious lines and emotionality, while ‘eon’ identifies it as a premium Volkswagen model. With the sporty R-Line trimming, one is ensured a car that is visually breathtaking from every angle.

As  for the R-Line model, the Arteon is equipped with an aggressive front chrome grill with R-Line badge, LED headlights, LED tail lights with dynamic indicators, a rugged black rear spoiler, 19-inch Montevideo alloy wheels and the lower chrome trimmings.

Other features of the Arteon R-Line includes the 563 litres boot space with easy open boot function, dynamic chassis control with driving mode selection, digital cockpit, wireless app-connected Apple CarPlay, 14-way ErgoComfort seats in Nappa carbon-style black leather with massage function, Dynaudio 11 speakers and 700-watt subwoofer sound system, area view camera 360° and many more.

Powering the Arteon R-Line is the 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine mated to the improved 7-speed double wet clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG). It produces 187 hp and 320 Nm of torque.

There are five colours available – Manganese Grey, Turmeric Yellow and Pyrite Silver and two pearl-effect colours, the Deep Black and Oryx White Pearl. The Arteon R-Line is priced at RM 225,490. With the current sales tax break, the Arteon R-Line can be purchased at RM 220,043.28 until the end of this year.

Another model the company introduced during the event is the Passat R-Line. Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia is now accepting pre-bookings for the Passat R-Line and it is expected to be priced between RM 200,000 to RM 210,000.

The Passat R-Line is decked with sporty touches such as the new R-Line front and rear bumpers, side R-Line badge, chrome trims, 19-inch Verona alloy wheels, Nappa carbon-style black leather seats, steering wheel and aluminium sports pedals.

Some of the equipment list of the Passat R-Line includes the side assist with 180-degree detection range of up to 50 metres, rear traffic alert, Discover Pro infotainment system with 9.2-inch touchscreen, amongst others.

The Passat R-Line is running on the 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine paired with the improved 7-speed wet clutch DSG. It resulted in 187 hp and 320 Nm of torque.

Six colour options to choose from, which are the Aquamarine Blue, Tamarind Brown, Manganese Grey and Reflex Silver and two pearl-effects with no additional charges – Deep Black and Oryx White.

Meanwhile, the last model that Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia introduced was the all-new Tiguan Allspace line-up. The Tiguan Allspace is an extended wheelbase version of Tiguan. It has a significantly higher bonnet position with precise and sharper lines that run across the bonnet and front bumper giving it a stronger stance.

Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the Tiguan Allspace now has massive space inside and with the multiple seat configurations, it can offer up to 1,775 litres of boot space from its 700 litres boot space with the last row seats folded. 

The seven-seater SUV was offered in two variants – the Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4 TSI and the Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI.

Some of its equipment for the Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4 TSI are the Full LED headlamps and tail lights, 18-inch Kingston alloy wheels, front and rear fog lights, Vienna leather upholstery, 12-way powered adjusted driver seat, climatronic air conditioning system with 3-zone temperature control, ambient lighting, multifunction steering wheels with paddle shifters, cruise control, 11.7-inch digital cockpit, 8-inch composition media touchscreen head unit, rear-view camera.

Tiguan Allspace Highline’s safety features includes the six airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, brake assist, multi-collision brakes, intelligent crash response system, electronic park brake and hill-hold control.

At the heart of the Tiguan Allspace HIghline 1.4TSI houses the 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged direct injection engine, hooked on the 6-speed wet clutch DSG. It produces 148 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Volkswagen claims that it has a fuel consumption rating of approximately 7.3l/100km.

As for the range topping Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI, it is equipped with the same features as the Highline 1.4TSI variant and much more. 

The Tiguan Allspace R-Line is fitted with the 19-inch Sebring alloy wheels, 4Motion all-wheel drive system, 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment system, digital cockpit, R-Line front and rear bumpers, R-Line design strips on the front side panels, dual tipped tailpipes, rear spoiler, 12-way powered adjusted R-Line sports front seats, stainless aluminium sports pedals, front and rear aluminium scuff plates, ‘Dark Grid’ decorative inserts, a black headliner, dynamic chassis control and hill descent control.

At the same time, the Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI is powered by the 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged direct injection petrol engine coupled with the 7-speed wet clutch DSG. It generates 217 hp and a torque of 350 Nm, making it the highest performance vehicle in its segment.

Both the all-new Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4TSI and R-Line 2.0TSI have five colours to choose from – Blue Silk, Pure White, Deep Black, Platinum Grey and Pyrite Silver.

The all-new Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4TSI is retailed at RM 169,990, while the all-new Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI is priced at RM 213,490. With the sales tax exemption, the retail price of the Highline 1.4TSI is RM 164,430.75 and RM 208,553.79 for the R-Line 2.0TI until December 31, 2020.
