June 17, 2020, Kuala Lumpur – BMW Group Malaysia, the official distributor of the BMW and MINI vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the locally assembled BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport.
It is the newest locally-assembled electrified mobility model form the BMW X range.
“The introduction of the new BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport not only expands our portfolio of locally-assembled vehicles here in Malaysia but also strengthens our strategy for electrified mobility for the country. The move not only underlines our commitment to continuously invest in Malaysia as a key market for the BMW Group in the region, but also our commitment to drive innovation and sustainability forward for the purpose of electromobility.
“All of these will be anchored by our campaign, Joy.Electrified by i,” said its managing director Harald Hoelzl in a statement.
Hoelzl said that the X5 has proven over the years as the most efficient and powerful premium Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) on the road.
“Last year, the BMW X5 accounted for more than 25 percent of the BMW X range deliveries with over 3,000 units. We are certain the new BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport will continue to uphold the legacy of its iconic predecessors,” he said.
Powering the BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport is a 3-litre six-cylinder BMW eDrive technology mated to the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. It produces a maximum output of 349 hp and 600 Nm of torque.
BMW Claims that the BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport can sprint from zero to 100 kph in 5.6 seconds and the top speed is rated at 235 kph. On full-electric mode, it can travel up to 77 km, and it can reach a top speed of 135 kph. It has a low fuel consumption of 2.5 l/100km and carbon emission of 56g/km.
Some of the key features include adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam, front LED fog lights, M Sport package, 20-inch M light alloy wheels, M Sport brake, 2-axle air suspension, leather Vernasca upholstery, M leather multi-function steering wheel, powered adjusted front seats with memory function for the driver, four-zone automatic air conditioning, automatic tailgate with two-section opening, 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 10.2-inch monitor for the rear seat entertainment, BMW Live Cockpit Professional with gesture control, wireless charging bay, BMW Display Key, and 464W 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Safety aspects of the BMW X5 xDrive45e are BMW Personal CoPilot, which includes lane departure warning, lane changing warning, frontal collision warning with braking intervention, rear cross traffic warning, rear collision prevention, intelligent parking assistant plus, surround view camera, reversing assistant, comfort access 2.0, and amongst others.
There are four colour choices – Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, and Artic Grey to compliment the leather ‘Vernasca’ upholstery design perforations in Black and a fine-wood trim ‘Fineline Stripe’ with brown high-gloss.
As an added option, the exterior can be upgraded to feature the BMW M Performance genuine parts and accessories, such as the front air inlet, exterior mirror cap, front and read winglets, rear diffuser in carbon fibre, side decals, side skirt films in frozen black and wheels in Star Spoke Jet Black Matte.
In terms of pricing, the BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport is priced at RM 440,745.00, excluding insurance. With the Balloon Financing plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, it can be owned with a monthly installment plan starting from RM 5,028.00, based on an estimate of an 80 percent loan on a five-year tenure.
