October 20, 2019, Kota Kinabalu – Proton Holdings Bhd, the second largest national carmaker in Malaysia, has added a new dealership partner and opened its new Proton 3S centre in Kota Kinabalu.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Darell Leiking and Proton senior director of corporate strategy Yusri Yusuf.
Shirba Auto World Sdn Bhd manages the new 3S centre, and it is the third Proton dealer outlet in Kota Kinabalu. The 3S centre has a built-up area of 2,259 sq metres, and consists of 12 service bays, 6 service hoists, a customer lounge with free Wi-Fi.
Proton’s ongoing effort to encourage upgrading of its existing outlets and attract new dealerships has been successful. To date, the company has 104 3S and 4S centres nationwide, making Proton having the most number of outlets to offer sales and services under one roof.
“The future business outlook for Proton is promising, especially with its range of new car models. It gives a lot of confidence to the public that Proton is currently managed by a pool of talent with global experience. It is a company which is exciting, international, forward looking and ready to take on the market,” said Shirba Auto World director Ridzuan Datuk Lassim in a statement.
To echo Ridzuan’s quotes, Proton chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong said “The initiatives that are put in place have resulted in us gaining confidence from investors and the market. Many have decided to invest in a dealership because they have witnessed the positive developments at Proton. They see Proton as a solid brand and willing to partner with us. Brand perception has also shifted and this is evident from our increasing sales,”
Year-to-date, sales in the East Malaysia saw a growth of 31 percent, whilst for sabah, the increase was 39 percent compared to the same period last year. The Proton Sage remains the popular choice in the state.
